Beauty and the Beast

Posted on Jun 25, 2013 in photography

Tu and I were trying to take some pictures together.  I had a picture in my mind where we were laying on the ground and looking up at the camera.  It became a classic story of beauty and the beast because when I took the test shots of just her on the ground they looked wonderful.

Then when I got into the picture I am surprised the lens didn’t break. The pictures were deleted. The Beast had wrecked the shot.  I suppose the only saving grace is that my beastliness would only make her beauty appear all the more in comparison. I will spare you the Beast, but give you the Beauty.

We could conquer the world.  Even with a makeshift chariot, cape and wooden sword.

Ninja Geno

Posted on Jun 23, 2013 in Family

Part II in my series on how kids view themselves in their own mind.  Here is Geno.  He is a warrior. He is a Ninja.  He’s in Bed by 8 every night and is on the honor roll in school.  But he is a Ninja.

45,46,47

He didn’t see me as I turned the corner, and I am pretty sure he didn’t hear me.  I wasn’t sure why he had his eyes closed but I could hear him counting..45,46,47,48.  I realized he was playing hide and go seek and he was playing by the rules – no peeking and counting nice and slow.  I let him keep counting but I took a picture of it because I liked it.

I think it must have taken 2 minutes for him to get to 100 and that must have been plenty of time for Geno to find a perfect hiding place or at least for him to get a quarter mile away.  Just another day in a kids life.

Nice little summer there San Diego

Posted on Jun 22, 2013 in photography

Hey, did someone forget to tell San Diego that there is such a thing as June Gloom?  You know that time of year when a thick marine layer of clouds covers the sky for over a month and the town starts to look as gloomy and dim as London on a dreary day?

Apparently they did because the weather has been a smashing success.  5 Stars and 5 hip hip hoorays for the sun.

Isabella goes to Coronado

Posted on Jun 22, 2013 in Travel

Isabella is a world traveler.  One weekend in Catalina.  The next weekend in Riverside.  The next Weekend in Coronado.  Sometimes she does many cities at once.  Take Saturday for instance.  She got up early. She hopped in the car.  Went to Riverside and then drove all the way back to Coronado for a visit with her Grams and Fams.  What a fabulous day she had.

The family decides to take a little trip to Coronado.

She wore a pretty floral dress for the big day.  She chooses her own clothes to wear everyday.

There were bike rides.  Look at the little cutey pattooty in the basket while mom rides her around.

And she hung out with Dad, sometimes she would say in her mind to herself. Dad, your silly.

Oh yes and she also spent time with Mom taking pictures and giving her hugs too.

Oh Isabella, you had such a good day with everyone.  You are quite the young girl now!

Mila and Lucy

Posted on Jun 16, 2013 in Family

Mila and Lucy are about the same age.  They are great friends just like Mary and Joanne were when they were their age.  Its amazing to think that 30 years ago, Mary and Joanne were doing many of the same things that Lucy and Mila do today.
