Rin in the Salty D

At long last, Tu’s sister Rinnie arrived in San Diego and we are so happy she arrived. Everyday for the last two years, Tu say’s everyday how she wishes her family was here and yesterday it happened and her sister came in. Tu has really not stopped smiling since she came in and we have been busy showing her the sights and the beautiful place called San Diego.  We have been going through a heat wave here in San Diego, and since Rinnie and Tu are from Vietnam it certainly feels like home here.

Rinnie hopped on a bike in the morning.  She doesn’t have a license to drive a bike and so she ended up going off the road and almost went directly into the Pacific Ocean as you can see from the pictures.

Well nevertheless she picked up riding the bike just fine and managed not to break any bones.  Good job Rinnie.

Where do you go after you rode a bike on the beach and you are ready for something new in San Diego?  Well you head back over to another beach.  That’s just the San Diego way.  So we headed over to La Jolla Cove beach to check out the seals.  We didn’t see any seals, but we were up for another surprise while we were there.

So the big surprise for us, was that Rinnie decided to go swimming with all of her clothes on.  She had her scarf and everything on and just jumped right in the water.  We were yelling, “Rinnie, don’t go in the water with all of your clothes”.

Well, since she was already wet, she decided to lay out on the beach to get a tan.  She spelled her name out in the sand so people would know it was her place.  But then another wave came, and go her all soaked again.  That’s the thing about waves – they just keep coming.

Well it was a fun day.  We saw lots of nice things and most importantly, Tu and Rinnie got a chance to spend time together in the place that Tu calls home. Nice day and more to come so stay tuned.
