Last Wednesday Bill and I landed the chopper on the mega yacht – Leight Star,  owned by Howard Leight. It was an amazing experience and Fox News was there to capture all the excitement in downtown San Diego.

$100,000 for a video game?

My friend Chris Smith and I went out to a luxury Yacht and Car Show this weekend in downtown San Diego.  We noticed that there was a video game race track simulation called Motion Pro that retails for $100,000 as pictured in this video.  Chris gave it a try and within 2 minutes he gave it a thumbs up.  Check it out

je t’amie mon amor

I sent Tu a cute picture that I really liked.  It was a picture two fingers kissing in France and the man finger is saying to the woman finger jet’aime mon amar.  She remembered a picture that we took a couple of years ago and it was almost the same.  I think they are almost identical, what do you think?

Landing the Chopper on Leight Star

Posted on Apr 20, 2012 in photography

Yesterday, Bill went out at sunset to land the R-22 on a beautiful mega yacht called the Leight Star in Downtown San Diego.  This super luxury yacht has a heliport landing pad so you can actually land your helicopter on the yacht.  Now navigating this landing was a bit technical but Bill pulled it off beautifully and it certainly was a rush watching him do it. What a great afternoon and we caught some nice shots of the boat too.

Bill successfully navigates the approach to the Yacht. He is just seconds away from touching down and everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.

Bill approaches the Yacht.  The Helipad is just big enough to land the chopper on.  There is no room for error in this maneuver and everyone holds their breath.

The beautiful Mega Yacht sits in San Diego Harbor: the R22 adding another layer of beauty to the already beautiful Leight Star.

Fresh, stylish and forever young at 70

My mom has had 12 kids, raised them, worked 10 hours a day running an insurance agency and lived a very active and busy lifestyle and she keeps getting younger and younger with each passing year.  It is fantastic to see the results of a healthy, active and positive lifestyle and what it can do for you.  This is my mom – she is 70 and she is still smashing, fresh faced and stylish.

The Tree

Posted on Apr 14, 2012 in nature

I was walking through the desert in White Sands New Mexico this week and I spotted this tree in the distance. It looked very interesting and a little scary so I went off the path to go take some pictures of it.  The branches were dry and they sprouted in all directions towards the stormy skies.  The sun began to peek out of the clouds and lit the branches and the trunk of the tree but everything else around it was still dark.  It was a scary tree.

God Bless my White Chucks

Posted on Apr 13, 2012 in Travel

I have been the wearing the same type of All Star since I was 16.  I wore white, black, red, gray and even plaid chucks through the years but I always come back to white.  I have worn high-tops, low tops, with and without shoe strings but one pair always comes through tried and true – the low top white chucks.  I have worn them with socks and without socks.  Remember when people used to wear shoes without socks?  Don Johnson?  Well, that was me with Chucks but I soon learned that sweating feet was pretty uncomfortable not to mention the blisters.

I first started wearing them when I was 16 after I saw some punkers wearing them around Santa Barbara.  I thought they were so cool with their spiked up hair, ripped jeans, 1950 sweaters and chucks that I went out and bought myself a pair.  They were my first pair and I loved them.  I tried moving to many different types of sneakers through the years but the white chucks just have a hold on me.  I still love them 30 years later.

I like the white converse because they look good with just about everything – suits included if you can pull it off.  Plus I love them because I love white shoes.  The key with Converse is to wash them every few weeks but you have to be careful not to do two things – no bleach and no dryers. You have to let them dry on their own otherwise they crinkle up, and if you use bleach the soles start to turn yellow and that is not a look that you want when you are wearing your beautiful white chucks.  God Bless my white chucks they have taken me to so many parts of the world. They are not always ideal mind you.  When I used to wear them in London for example they made my feet freeze because there is virtually no cushion on these things and it is like walking on the frozen tundra when it gets below 50 degrees outside. Nevertheless I wore them every chance I got.

If you have a pair, then congratulations; if you don’t, then what are you waiting for?  Get your chucks and remember, keep them clean.
